The Brunei History Centre through the Research and Documentation Division and the Borneo Research Division, penBorneo, organised a Symposium on the History of Islamic Civilisation in the Archipelago. The programme themed, "Tinggalan Sejarah Sumber Ketamadunan Islam Nusantara" aimed to bring together scholars from various fields of Islamic civilisation in the archipelago.

 

Present was Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra'es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College. In the symposium's keynote address titled "Ketamadunan Islam Di Brunei: Masa Lalu Untuk Masa Depan", Doctor Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Head of Brunei History Centre, among others, shared on the Islamic civilisation in Brunei which is based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy. 9 working papers were also presented which focused the historical heritage related to the development of Islamic civilisation in the region.
